The Files console
The Files console is the web app of the File Service, at https://files.centralcodestation.com. Members of a tenant browse, upload, preview, find and share the files of an application; administrators set up permissions and settings and read the usage and the audit log; platform administrators manage tenants’ quotas, reports and storage. This section describes every page for the people who use them.
Signing in and choosing where you are
Section titled “Signing in and choosing where you are”You sign in with your Identity Server account; the console has no accounts of its own. After sign-in you pick a tenant and one of its applications (only those with Files switched on are offered). The tenant and application are part of the address, so a link to a folder or a file opens in the right place, and switching is a click in the header, never a new sign-in. The console remembers the last place you were.
Who can open which page
Section titled “Who can open which page”What you can do comes from your roles in the tenant, mapped onto permission keys by the tenant owner, and from the access entries on folders and files. The console hides what you cannot use; the service enforces it either way.
| Page | Opens for |
|---|---|
| Browse and upload | Every member with access to the application. You see the folders and files you may view |
| File details | Anyone who may view the file; each tab’s actions need the matching action |
| Search, trash and share links | Search: everyone (results are filtered). Trash: items you may delete. Share links: your own links, every link with files.manage |
| Permissions | The tenant owner and holders of files.permissions.manage |
| Settings | files.settings.manage (or files.configure) |
| Usage and audit | Usage: files.audit.read or files.settings.manage. Audit: files.audit.read |
| Legal holds (File details) | files.manage |
| Platform administration and storage accounts | Platform administrators only |
A share link page (/s/<token>) |
Anyone with the link, without signing in |
Folders and files that CCS Chat stores for its messages appear under a chat folder at the root; see Media in Chat.
A folder that one of your applications manages shows Managed by and the application’s name. It and everything inside are read-only for everyone in the console, the tenant owner included: you can view, download, copy out and place legal holds, and only the tenant owner can release the folder in an emergency. See Application-managed folders.
The tenant owner can open every page in every application. A page you may not use shows a “not allowed” panel; the API answers missing_capability or missing_action to the same request.
Live updates
Section titled “Live updates”While a folder or a file is open, the console updates it as things happen: a new file in the folder, a finished preview, a new status or a new share. When live updates are not available, the console refreshes when you come back to the window, and polls a file that is still processing.
